This Can't Be Good...

There is a scandal brewing.

A BIG one.

Not a Democrat or Republican scandal, but an American one.

If the corruption that will be exposed when this scandal comes to light goes as high as the President, it will not only hurt President Bush, But Clinton as well, and possibly even Bush 41.

It could shake our basic faith in our very system of Government, not just our faith in our elected leaders.

The main stream media is not covering it in very much detail as of yet, they are actively trying to ignore it. If you look hard enough, though, you can get little snippetts and scattered details of it here and there.

But the time will come, and soon, when the media will have to pay attention to it.

We, as Americans, should be paying very close attention to it now.

I am going to call it "Able-Danger-Gate", so in a few weeks when you hear that term, you will know that Tug said it first.

The story, according to Fox news is that the Army's special intel project known as Able-Danger identified four of the nineteen hijackers, as well as Mohammad Atta more than a year before 9/11, and when they tried to report their findings, they were not only ignored, but threatened and told to stand down by their superiors.

They reported to the 9/11 Commission, and they were ignored there as well, and subsequently punished for trying to go public.

The Senate is currently holding hearings on this matter, and the Pentagon is issuing gag orders to stop the witnesses from telling their stories.

I want the facts, All of them, if for no other reason but to keep my imagination from running away with me.

The way I see it is like this. Either this is someone high up in the Pentagon, just trying to save his job, and save face, or the whole Pentagon and Department of Defense are covering for someone further up the food chain. (How much farther up does the food chain GO from there?)

The information that I have seen and heard so far would suggest at the very least complicity between branches of our Government, our media, and the Terrorists of 9/11, and worst case, cooperation.

That's a concept that really, really worries me.

Or it could just be a collossal misunderstanding. It could be nothing.

I don't know what to think.

If any of you can tell me something to ease my mind, I would really appreciate your thoughts...

One thing that I do know is, until all of this is cleared up, we all should put aside our partisan bickering, and idealogical disagreements, and cry out with one voice to our elected officials:

"GIVE US THE TRUTH!!"

To ease your mind ...it was a Foxnews report...so officially it is not now nor has it ever been real news. Able Danger was a black ops project that we all must ignore, so sayeth the Pentagon, for ignorance is bliss and the American people can remain blissfully ignorant. Take your medication Mr. Tug ...Pentagon's Orders

Erudite Redneck said...

?? Even I wouldn't say that about Fox. They just spin to the right, like most of the rest of the press spins toward the moderate-liberal-left.

I'll ease your mind, Tug. It doesn't make any difference. Osama orchestrated the attacks and even if we arrested and detained the suspects that Able Danger knew about, he simply would have replaced them with someone else and the attacks would have gone as planned.

Anon, since Fox news wasn't among the 60+ major "mainstream" news organizations that admitted under oath in a court of law that they had lied about Karl Rove outing Valerie Plame, I give them more credibitlity than the others.

I have heard about this...

Not necessarily so Mark; it took a lot to train those guys and get them into position to be able to pull it all off. Not to mention we could have invaded Afghanistan and got Bin Laden when we knew where he was.

What troubles me is the obvious coverup, and the scope it has to reach to include everyone it has to include.

Whether Able Danger would have prevented 9/11 or not is secondary at this point.

If this is indeed a massive coverup, it had to originate at least in the Clinton Administration, and then carry over into the Bush Administration.

Stuff like this makes me very nervous.

Oh, and Anonymous, Fox News was the first link that popped up when I went looking for an example to link to.

I first heard of this story from my local radio station during Lex and Terry.

That's hardly a right wing spin machine...

I think there's a cover-up that goes back to 1947. And I don't think I'm kidding.

One redneck point for the first one who names what I'm talking about.

60+ major news orgs???? Name them.
Admitted under oath???? When.
Lied???? He has already admitted it in court proceedings????
Do you have cable????
Are you that lost on the streets of Mulberry????
You are the poster child for those that want strict limitations on assault rifles.

Tug, allow me.

(First: Spin is one thing, facts are another. I might argue that what follows is more complicated than Tug makes it out to be. I actually do argue that media lawyers, when the media is in a bind, are given more access and resources than front-line reporters EVER are; therefore, I do not assume that because this court brief says what it says, that line reporters up to that time knew these facts. What they've done since then, though, is pretty abysmal. But remember: Reporters can only report as far as their bosses let them. Which means that when people gripe about this and say "the media" they really mean, whether they know it or not, the big-business corporate controllers of the media, not the reporters on the beat. Ironic, ain't it? Turns out that Big Business types, business conservatives no less, are to blame, not the "liberal media." But I digress.)

Tug got a little over-excited and fuzzy on his math. It was 36 news organizations, not 60.

Anon, go here, read this and shut up. I'm a Dem and a lib (compared to Tug). But the arguments that the media made in this court brief are clear.

In it, you will find answes to:

"Name them. Admitted under oath???? When. Lied???? He has already admitted it in court proceedings????"

"Lied" is an interpretation. But the facts are here:

Tug, I will always come runnin' when some asswipe starts slingin' crap like: "Are you that lost on the streets of Mulberry????"

I apreciate that, ER, and you know that I will reciprocate in kind whenever I can...

But I believe that it was Mark that Anonymous was swiping at.

Thanks anyway, though...

And in an attempt to obtain my very first Redneck point...Does it have anything to do with the establishment of Isreal as an independant (?) nation state, ER?

Erudite Redneck said...

Oh, dang. Well, the point needed defending.

Nope. Israel became a nation in 1948.

Think New Mexico.

Mark said...

oh that's right 36 organizations . sorry. I forgot. It's been a while

Mark said...

I think Anon meant streets of Mayberry, and I wish I was there. No politics there.

Erudite Redneck said...

LOLOL. HA! I didn't notice it said Mulberry! My eyes saw "Mayberry," which is obviously what the anon menat. Ha! There is a Mulberry in Arkansas.

Roswell??

Are you KIDDING??!!

Now THAT'S spooky!

(I don't deserve the point...I had to have a clue.)

tugboatcapn said...

Man, don't send my brain there...this close to bed-time!!

(I have to drive a 75 foot long, 80,000lb articulated vehicle all day tomorrow!)

Erudite Redneck said...

Roswell. You get a redneck point.
The truth is out there, dude.

--ER

Erudite Redneck said...

Wait, you get a half a redneck point. Sorry. :-)

--ER

tugboatcapn said...

Well, that's half a point more than I had before...

You're right.

That's out there, Buddy!!

You're scaring the BeJeezus out of me, Dude...

tugboatcapn said...

You wanna hear something funny??

I thought I needed a new monitor, but it just dawned on me that I have been swatting bugs on mine for six months.

I wiped it off, and it is as good as new!

(I know this is off the subject...)

Erudite Redneck said...

Well, horse apples.

The newsies reported one thing, and their brief asserted another. Calling it "lying" is an interpretation, but there is a major disconnect there, that even I, a member of the workin' press for 20 years, can see.

As far as Fox having signed onto
the brief, I don't have a dog in that hunt. Who cares? Fox is no more fair and balanced than the New York Times.

Now, can you, anon, engage in a discussion, even an argument, without being a sniveling weasel of a smartass? If not, why don't you just go french kiss a mirror? You do so seem to be in love with yourself.

You drew first -- and subsequent -- blood. Hey, you, get off of Tug's cloud!

Tug, you do need to spray for assholes.

What a wad.

I've been watching this news story, too, Tug, and I can't understand why more mainstream newspeople haven't been jumping on it. Like you, I want to know the truth, just so my very fertile imagination will quit running away with me.

tugboatcapn said...

Nice try, Bruiser.

The substance and wording of your comments are what i find offensive, not your handle.

Just posting the same old stuff as "Anonymous" will not cause me to leave your crap on my comments page.

I will tell you once again, since you seem to be hard of learning...

Go write your own blog. If anyone wants to read your drivel, they will go and find you.

I will not provide a forum for you.

Tug, I have been silently paying attention to this story. Looking for any information I can gather. There is indeed a storm brewing in Washington and it is my belief that it began with the Clinton administration (big surprise there). The destruction of documents, lying....very Clintonesque and all his style. Keeping my eyes and ears open, too! Great post!

tugboatcapn said...

Thanks, Pam.
And you too, Angel.

I will post more about this when I can get more information.
The problem is, it is extremely dificult to get information about this scandal.
I can come up with an outline, but no specific details.
I will keep my eyes and ears open, though, and will post updates as more information becomes available.

I will ask all of you to do the same...

This is a very important issue...
