Did you ever throw yourself a party, and nobody showed up?
Me neither.
If you did, were you asking the guests to pay a Half a Million Dollars each to attend?

Media Elites Snub Clinton’s 60th Birthday Party
This one is way too funny. Britain’s the Daily Mail reported on Saturday that the Clintons are having a hard time selling tickets to Bill’s upcoming 60th birthday party, so much so that they have now twice reduced the price. In fact, compared to what they were originally charging, in particular to Hollywood elites, prices have been drastically slashed, and are now being offered to the public (hat tip to Drudge):
When America's liberal elite were offered the chance to pay up to $500,000 each to attend Bill Clinton's 60th birthday extravaganza tonight - with the added promise of a private Rolling Stones concert - a packed house was expected.
Wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea sent out about 10,000 invitations to Hollywood tycoons, movie stars, captains of industry and Wall Street - with all proceeds to go to the former President's charitable foundation. (The Clinton legal defense fund?)
Sadly for the Clintons, there weren’t a lot of takers:
The minimum price, with inferior concert seats and no brunch, was set at $60,000. But with many rich Democrats sending their regrets, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that last Wednesday the Clintons drastically slashed prices to $12,500 for one reception and the concert, or $5,000 for just the Stones.
It seems the new price didn’t attract many buyers either: “With the looming possibility of Bill and his long-suffering wife and daughter finding themselves amid a sea of empty chairs at the 2,900-seat Manhattan venue, tickets then went on sale to the public for as little as $1,710.“
And the article goes on to say that the Stones may not even show up, and they were going to get PAID to go. (Mick got sick, supposedly.)
(Well, that's not surprising. Mick is, what? 80 years old now?)
Still, I can imagine that there are still a couple of people in the World who would be willing to pay a Half a Million to see the Stones before Keith Richards dies, (if he hasn't yet.)
Apparently Hillary and Chelsea thought that there were 10,000.
Still, you have to feel a little sorry for former Nerd in Chief Bubba...
It's a real bummer when your Birthday Party flops.
Huhm huhm...Huhuhuh...HaHa HaHaHAAHAHAHA!!
MAHAHAAHAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

Down With Rush Limbaugh!
From CBS News.com...
Michael J. Fox Responds To Limbaugh Accusation
Actor Responds To Claim He Was Off His Meds In Political Ad: 'My Pills Are Working Really Well'...
(CBS/AP) His body visibly wracked by tremors, actor Michael J. Fox appears in a political ad that was the subject of widespread discussion on Monday after conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh claimed Fox was "either off his medication or acting."
"I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple days, that my pills are working really well," Fox said.
"I think this is exploitative in a way that's unbecoming of either Claire McCaskill or Michael J. Fox," Limbaugh said on his syndicated show.
(Democrat Congressional Candidate) Tammy Duckworth added of Limbaugh's remarks: "That comment is trying to take away from the real issue at hand."
What issue is that, Candidate Duckworth?
The issue that you and Michael J. Fox and Claire McKaskill are lying?
They are, you know.
They would all have you believe that a cure for Parkinson's disease, and for many other diseases, is right around the corner, and the only thing standing in the way of that cure is those Evil Republicans, who are only interested in making people suffer.
The truth is that Embryonic Stem Cell Research has shown ABSOLUTELY NO promise of curing ANY disease at all, nor has it shown any promise of aleviating anyone's suffering, AND the Bill that they are arguing over doesn't criminalize the research in the first place. (It just doesn't fund the research with Federal Money.)
They are LYING.
And Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and everyone else who might point out the fact that they are lying is supposed to sit down and keep their opinions to themselves, because Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's Disease.
Think about this scenario...
Let's say that some researchers believe that there is a chemical in the brains of Parkinson's Patients which could completely eliminate Miscarriages, but in order to extract this chemical, we have to remove the brains from the people afflicted with Parkinson's.
Not only that, but in order to obtain enough of this chemical to confirm the theories of these researchers, we must create more Parkinson's Patients, simply for the purpose of removing thier brains.
If only it were legal to afflict people with new cases of Parkinson's Disease, and then remove their brains, then Millions of Human Embryos would be saved, and permitted to grow to maturity. The pain and suffering of all the women who now have miscarriages would be eased.
And one of these Embryos which would be miscarried without this research could possibly grow up to become the scientist who discovers a cure for Alzhiemers Disease. (I mean, you wouldn't want to disregard a possible cure for Alzhiemers, just because you would have to destroy a few Parkinson's Patients in order to get it, now, would you?)
How much support do you think the proponents of this research would get?
Do you think that the Democrat Party would sanction this type of research, or use it in their Political Campaign Ads?
What is the real difference between my scenario, and the reality of Embryonic Stem Cell Research?
The fact that Parkinson's Patients can speak out against this type of thing, and Embryos cannot?
Is the only real difference the size of the blob of Human Tissue?
Rush is right.
There are no sacred cows, not even victims of Disease.
Not even Michael J. Fox.

Happy Anniversary!!
Today is my Wife's and My 100th Wedding Anniversary.
(Actually, it's only our third, but it seems like a hundred.)
In three short years, we have clung to each other through a horrible and almost career ending truck wreck, her Mother's heart attack and the eventual passing of her Mother, a 600 mile relocation from North Carolina to Florida, a very painful back injury for me, four Hurricanes, poverty, sickness, a miscarriage, and more poverty.
We have also enjoyed each other's company on various trips to Universal Studios, Disney World, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
We have discussed the nature of God, the State of the Union, the price of Gasoline, the value of a Dollar, the nature of love, the Biblical Roles of men and women, the cuteness of the dog, the weather, humidity, the time of day, plans for the future, baby names, the housing market, our nutty friends and family, computer viruses, television shows, medical problems, the height of the grass in the yard.
We have worked on cars together, washed and dried the dishes, done laundry, repaired the house, ate, slept, and bathed together.
She is everything in this world that is important to me, and I cannot imagine my life without her.
I've got her fooled into thinking that I am wonderful, and that she needs me, and could never do better than me. (Don't ask me how.)
The truth is that I do not deserve her, and I am nothing without her.
She could have done a WHOLE lot better than me, but don't tell her that.
I neded to keep her fooled for at least a hundred more years.
Happy Anniversary, Baby!
I love you VERY much!

Get Out The Vote!
From News Busters...
NY Times on Republican Extinction Week Again
The (Liberal Blog known as the) New York Times is doing its best to convince Republicans that they should stay home on Election Day, because after all, “With four weeks left before Election Day, the poll indicates that the scandal involving Mr. Foley, a former Republican congressman from Florida, is alienating Americans from Congress, and weakening a Republican Party that was already struggling to keep control of the House and Senate.”
The (Liberal Blog known as the) New York Times comes to this conclusion based on the recently released NY Times (Blog) – CBS opinion poll despite the fact that that two-thirds in the poll said the Foley matter will make “no difference” in how they vote (as reported by Brent Baker earlier).
A quick read of the NY Times release of the poll indicates that the poll itself is actually a referendum on Republicans and George Bush rather than an evenly spaced set of questions that are meant to determine how Americans think of the Democrats as well.
For instance, on the questions concerning the Mark Foley scandal not one of them asks what the Democrats knew ahead of time or how Democrats handled the scandal.
Yet questions 53, 54, 55, 88, 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60 are all about the way the House leadership handled the scandal.
The implication in this set of questioning is along the same lines as the week long theme in the MSM that has been intent on making the Republican leadership the focus of the Mark Foley scandal rather than Mr. Foley himself.
In other words, Democrats and the Liberal Blog known as the New York Times hope that a large number of Republicans stay home on Election Day because of the Foley Scandal, among other issues.
They seek to depress Republican turnout at the Polls.
This means that the Democrats and their Blog would rather win by default than to actually have a mandate to Govern, and are willing to disenfranchise Republican Voters through exagerated Scandals and misrepresentation of the Truth in order to regain their power.
Don't fall for it.
Election day is November 7th. (If you are a Republican. Election Day for Democrat Voters is November 8th.)
Do not let the Lies and misrepresentations of the Democrats and thier Blogs in the MSM rob you of your voice.
Do not throw in the towel because of the propaganda of the Liberal Press.
Go out on November 7th and make your opinions known.
(Unless you are a Democrat. If you are, then November 8th is your day.)

Constituent's Letter To Senator Paul Sarbanes (D. Maryland)
I found this at Strange Politics, via Fark.com...
A letter sent to a Senator:
The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes 309 Hart Senate Office Building Washington DC, 20510
Dear Senator Sarbanes:
As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance.
I have contacted the Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.
My reasons for wishing to change my status from U.S. citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted.
If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, what I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.
I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.
Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year, so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of the last five years taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine.
Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively?
This would yield an excellent return for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005 and I estimated a gross savings approximating $72,000.
After the fine this would yield me a net savings of $70,000.
In addition, I would reap the other benefits of being an illegal alien such as free health care, avoidance of paying Social Security taxes, buying automobile insurance, serving on jury panels, etc.
If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.
Thank you for your assistance.

Culture Of Correction...
Think back, waaaay back in your memory banks, and see if you can recall the Mark Foley Scandal.
When the Foley Scandal broke, the same DAY it broke, Mark Foley resigned his Congressional Seat, and disappeared.
When Trent Lott was falsely accused of being a Racist by the Democrats because of a poorly worded compliment that he attempted to pay to Strom Thurman at Thurman's 100th Birthday Celebration, he stepped down as Senate Republican Leader, and apologized immediately.
"Scooter" Libby, upon being indicted for purgery before a Grand Jury, (the same crime that Bill Clinton was convicted of...) resigned his post, and began preparations for his defense, even though the same Grand Jury concluded that no crime was committed in connection with the Valerie Plame-Wilson incident. Libby has yet to be convicted of any crime, and yet he has resigned.
Tom DeLay, amid accusations of impropriety in Campaign Funding, even though what he actually did was not technically illegal when he did it, nonetheless resigned his position as Majority Whip, and his Congressional Seat, and has elected not to run again for his Congressional Seat in November even though his decision has left the people in his district with no Republican Candidate on the Ballot in a district which has historically shown itself to be strongly Republican, and most certainly would have been a Republican win, were there a Republican running.
Now, look at this.
From AP NEWS My Way, via The Drudge Report...
AP Exclusive: Reid Got $1M in Land Sale
WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid collected a $1.1 million windfall on a Las Vegas land sale even though he hadn't personally owned the property for three years, property deeds show.
In the process, Reid did not disclose to Congress an earlier sale in which he transferred his land to a company created by a friend and took a financial stake in that company, according to records and interviews.
The Nevada Democrat's deal was engineered by Jay Brown, a longtime friend and former casino lawyer whose name surfaced in a major political bribery trial this summer and in other prior organized crime investigations.
He's never been charged with wrongdoing - except for a 1981 federal securities complaint that was settled out of court.
Now, look at this...(Click on the link...)
This is a chart, published by the L.A. Times, which shows Harry Reid's involvement in various shady deals over the past few years, which have made virtually his whole family, and everyone he knows, wildly rich. (This chart does not include this latest deal, in which Re9id clearly manipulated Government Regulations and local Politicians and policies in order to increase the value of a property in which HE PERSONALLY had a stake.)
But don't hold your breath waiting for Reid to resign, or apologize.
He is a Democrat.
Only Republicans do that.
Democrats deny, defend, justify, and claim not to remember. And until the hancuffs are on their wrists and they are being led away to jail, the Democrats cling to their power.
Remember this fact whenever you hear any Democrat refer to a "culture of corruption" in connection to the Republicans who now hold the Majority in Washington.
Remember the phrase "Culture Of Correction" ( and credit it to me, Tugboatcapn,) when you hear of North Korea testing a Nuclear Weapon, for which the Nuclear Material required was supplied by the Clinton Administration.
Remember that phrase when you consider the fact that Terrorism, for the entirety of the Clinton Administration, was either ignored, or treated as a "Law Enforcement" issue, and subsequently was allowed to fester until the 9/11 attacks became inevitable.
Remember it when you think about the fact that due to Democrat obstructionism, nothing has yet been done to reform the Social Security system.
Remember it when you realize that Clinton, by his own admission, FAILED in his feeble attempts to kill Osama Bin Laden, and when you then realize that the Bush Administration has accomplished the only thing that would be considered a more horrible fate than death to Bin Laden. He has been rendered irrellevant, without even the benefit of Martyrdom.
Republicans take responsibility for their own mistakes, and attempt to clean up the messes created by Democrats, while Democrats point fingers, deny responsibility, and try to redefine the word "is", all the while holding on to power as tightly as they can, no matter what the decent thing to do may be.
Harry Reid is crooked, and that is not new information.
He should follow the example already set by the few scandal-ridden Republicans, and resign, whether he is guilty of any wrong-doing, or not.
He should take this opportunity to make himself a part of the "Culture Of Correction" that the Republicans have fostered in Washington.
Once again, don't hold your breath.

Sydney's Football Picks
My wife and I have become involved in Football Pools where we both work.
With rare exception, her picks and mine are pretty much the same, so when one of us loses, we both lose.
So last week, I decided to let our dog, Sydney, try his luck at picking NFL Football winners.
The system goes like this.
I take two paper plates. I put equal amounts of Macaroni and cheese on each one, and write a team name on each plate while she entertains Sydney in the back bedroom.
I put the two plates down side by side, and she releases the dog.
Whichever plate he goes to first is his pick.
Last week, he went 1 and 13.
His picks for this week are:
Buffalo over Detroit
Carolina over Baltimore
Tampa Bay over Cincinnati
Houston over Dallas
Atlanta over the NY Giants
Philadelphia over New Orleans
Seattle over St Louis
Tennessee over Washington
Pittsburgh over Kansas City
Miami over the NY Jets
San Diego over San Francisco
Oakland over Denver
And for the Monday Night game, he picked Arizona to beat Chicago.
Take this for what it is worth. He is a dog, after all, and his understanding of Football is questionable at best.

Nuclear test 'Equivalent to 550 tons of TNT'
North Korea’s potential nuclear test was equivalent to 550 tons of TNT, a state-run South Korean geological institute said, which would be far smaller than the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan in the Second World War.
“It amounts to detonating 550 tons of trinitrotoluene, or TNT, at once,” said Park Chang-soo, a spokesman of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources.
Looks like North Korea's Nuclear weapon test was about as successful as their ICBM test back in July...
From the information that I have been able to find, it seems that North Korea should just about be able to blow up a Dog House, as long as it is within a 400 mile radius of the launch pad.
I'm REALLY SCARED!!
See me shake...

Katie's Slip Is Showing...
From YahooNews.com...
NEW YORK - The fifth week was the toughest for Katie Couric, whose viewership on the "CBS Evening News" has dropped each week since her debut the day after Labor Day.
Her broadcast averaged 7.04 million viewers last week, third to NBC's "Nightly News" (8.56 million) and ABC's "World News" (7.97 million), according to Nielsen Media Research.
CBS points out that the "CBS Evening News" is the only one of the three network newscasts with more viewers last week than the same week a year earlier.
NBC's margin of victory last year was 2.2 million.
The first week, she, and the bigwigs at CBS News thought that just her pretty smile would cause viewers to tune in and stay tuned.
They all soon realized that it would not take very long for people to know what she looked like.
Then she thought that she could attract and hold viewers simply by doing the last segment every night lounging on top of the news desk like some singer in a seedy Piano Bar, but evidently it isn't working.
Starting next week, she is planning to pull her dress up and hold it over her head for thirty seconds somewhere during each News Cast.
I think it will work...
Thank God that Dan Rather never thought of it...

Educational Opportunities...
Hey, guess what?
Mark Foley is Gay!
Really, he said so! Today! I heard him!
So far, we have learned over the past week that Mark Foley sent E-Mails to a 16 year old former Congressional page. Then we learned that he sent Instant Messages, some of which were suggestive in nature.
Then we learned that Republicans resign from their positions when they become entangled in scandals like this one.
Since then, we have learned that Foley is an Alcoholic, that he was abused by a Clergyman when he was a teenager, and now that he is Gay.
And today, I learned that this whole thing is Denny Hastert's fault, and that ALL Republicans should resign because... why?
Because Foley is Gay? Because he likes Teen Boys? Because he knows how to send E-mails and Instant Messages over the internet? Because Republicans in Florida unwittingly elected an Alcoholic Gay Molestation Victim to represent them, and Hastert did nothing about it?
Just what exactly are we supposed to think here, Libs?
Does anyone but me realize that if one of our Supreme Court Justices, nominated by Bill (You better put some ice on that...) Clinton had had her way, the age of sexual consent would have been dropped to TWELVE, and none of Foley's actions would have been illegal?
We have learned a lot.
But what we will learn between now and the Election will be the interesting stuff. Be sure to pay close attention, so you won't miss any of it.
For example:
If we pay attention over the next few days and weeks, we will learn whether the Libs hate Republicans more than they respect the rights of Gays.
We will learn whether or not the ACLU will come to the defense of a Republican Congressman accused of some of the same offenses that they have already defended.
We will learn whether or not the American Public are so gullible and shallow that they will vote away their National Security and growing Economy because they would rather embrace Homophobia, and Tabloid Journalism than make hard choices about real issues which will affect their everyday lives for decades to come.
These are the important lessons of these next few weeks.
Study hard. There will be a test.
A tough one.

Republicans Suck!
From ABC news...
New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote
October 03, 2006 1:22 PM
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.
ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.
This message was dated April 2003, at approximately 7 p.m., according to the message time stamp.
If you really are interested in reading the Instant Messages, they are included in the article. Just follow the link.
I personally don't care.
First of all, let me state for the record that I do not in any way approve of Mark Foley's actions in this matter, nor do I have any patience with anyone, on either side of the aisle, who may have known about this situation, and either covered it up in order to avoid political embarrasment for themselves, or their party, or who may have known about it and sat on the information for a strategic release to spoil the upcoming elections.
Foley is at least a Homosexual, and at worst a Pedophile. In both cases, we have heard, ad-nauseum, from the same people who are now condemning Foley, that both Homosexuality and Pedophilia are conditions over which the (victim? perpetrator? sufferer?) person... has no control. Either he is predisposed toward his sexual orientation and can do nothing about his behaviour, or he is sick, and needs help to overcome his problem, and to know which, we would need to know whether he thought of this page as a child, or just a hot young Gay guy.
I don't care about Foley. He resigned. He doesn't matter anymore.
My anger is now turned full force against those who have attempted, and are now attempting to use this load of Hogwash for Political Advantage.
To any Democrat who may happen to read this:
If you were to offer me proof that EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE was a racist Homosexual pedophile pornographer who had slept over at Jack Abramoff's house, and stolen Girl Scout Cookies from blind Cancer patients and that they all eat live, cute little puppies for breakfast every day...
That still is not going to cause me to forget that I believe that Tax Cuts stimulate the Economy, and that the War in Iraq and the War on Terror MUST be won, however long it takes and no matter how difficult it may be.
It will not make me forget that I believe that Big Businesses like Wal Mart have a right to do business in America using whatever business model they find to be profitable, and that the people who work for these businesses have a right not to work there if they find the arrangement to be unprofitable to them, whatever that arrangement may be.
It will not make me believe that a Bloated Government knows better how to spend the money that I earn than I do.
It will not cause me to forget that I believe that "The Rich" should have the exact same rights that "The Poor" have.
It will not make me believe that I should have to pay for YOUR Healthcare.
It would never cause me to vote for any candidate who has the wholesale murder, in utero, of innocent unborn babies as a plank in his or her campaign platform.
It would not make me forget what the Democrats would do to this Country, if given any real power.
It will not make me want to vote for a Democrat.
As a matter of fact, if you were to prove to me that House and Senate Republicans, to a man, are the very scum of the Earth, I would chalk it up to the "Inside The Beltway" culture, and contend that the Democrats are, to a man, just as bad.
They are all politicians, after all, and if you are planning to wait around for one of those without any skeletons in their closet, it's going to be a long wait.

Islamophobia Test.
Most of you have probably already seen this, but I thought it was funny, so here it is.
I snagged it off the comments page over at ELAshley's place.
EUROPEAN UNION ISLAMOPHOBIA INSPECTION
I regret to inform you that this weblog and some of its posts and links have been identified as potentially Islamophobic.
Under EU Directive DCLXVI it is compulsory for all contributors to websites accessible from the European Union to take the following Islamophobia test:
YOU MAY BE AN ISLAMOPHOBE IF...
(1) You refer to the midwinter holiday as 'C*****mas'.
(2) You save loose change in a p***y-bank.
(3) You allow your children to read unexpurgated versions of Winnie the Pooh.
(4) You doubt whether it's politically correct to stone rape victims.
(5) You believe that the earth is round.
(6) You think there's something weird about a 50 year old man marrying a six year old girl.
(7) Your children have Barbie dolls or Teddy Bears.
(8) You object to being a second class citizen in your own country.
(9) You fail to celebrate cultural diversity when your daughter is gang-raped for not wearing a headscarf.
(10) You think government policy should be determined by your elected representatives rather than a howling mob.
(11) You object to your taxes being used to support people who are plotting to kill you.
(12) You aren't convinced that 'Jihad' means 'Inner Spiritual Struggle'.
(13) You don't understand why the Jews must be exterminated.
(14) You allow your children to play with LEGO.
(15) You aren't married to at least one of your cousins.
(16) You sometimes have doubts about BBC reporting.
(17) You occasionally wonder what's inside those walking tents.
(18) You realise that taqiyya is not a Mexican beverage.
(19) You believe moderate Muslims ride unicorns.
(20) You don't appreciate the multicultural need for Methodist grandmothers to be body-cavity searched before boarding aircraft.
(21) You claim to understand the words "Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them", even though you don't speak Arabic.
(22) You object to taxpayers' money being spent for terrorists to hold a festival to commemorate the anniversary of their massacres.
(23) You have reservations about 'faith schools' where the kids will be taught that you and your family are najis (excrement), at public expense.
(24) You don't understand why flying your country's flag has become a hate-crime.
(25) You don't appreciate why it is so insensitive and offensive for the police to prevent oppressed minorities venting their frustration by mass murder.
EVALUATING YOUR SCORE
How many of the questions did you answer 'YES' ?
On a scale of 0 to 25
0 you are a Dhimmi
1 to 5 you are a Najis Kaffir

(Hat tip to the Islamophobia Inspector, whoever you are.)
